anna og berit - a duo

Film made during residency at Red International Film Festival, Eina, Norway 2019.

The Austrian Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein lived in a hut in Skjolden in Norway while writing the first third of "Philosophical Investigations", not far from where we grew up. Taking inspiration from Wittgenstein´s late philosophy, we ask the questions: What is a language game and how can it be translated into dance? Is it really so that the unclarity of a blurred image is often what we need? Can we contradict ourselves in dance?

The aim with this piece is not to explain Wittgensteinian philosophy through dance, neither to illustrate; rather, it is an attempt to prolong his philosophy into our own medium of dance. Approaching various games and readings of the text with the body, we probe ways of communicating with each other and the audience. Freed from the aim of landing or ending up somewhere in a linear sense, we wish to move back and forth between many poles: playing a game. Dancing.

"One can say that the concept of a game is a concept with blurred edges. -"But is a blurred concept a concept at all?" - Is a photograph that is not sharp a picture of a person at all? Is it even always an advantage to replace a picture that is not sharp by one that is? Isn´t one that isn´t sharp often just what we need? "
